Whether working with individuals or whole systems, Helena believes that change comes about by a combination of raising awareness, creating new insight and taking action. She works by raising awareness of patterns or blindspots, focuses on developing greater choice in response and helps people and system s to build practical strategies for action. When working individually, she always works in the context of the wider system, knowing that what we each do has both a subtle and profound impact on what we create around us. She balances a deeply compassionate approach with clear thinking and insightful challenge. Her practice is rooted in academic depth and rigour which she balances with a deeply practical way of working. She always seeks to ask ‘so what?’ and to make learning useful. Her approach is integrative, drawing on a range of disciplines from psychodynamic and humanistic to mindfulness

With over 20 years of working as a consultant in leadership and organisational development, Helena focuses on senior level coaching , team development and facilitation, designing and running leadership and OD programmes across the private, public and not for profit sectors. Her own experience of leading an organisation for several years – plus her early years in HR – is a very helpful frame for helping others to lead well.
Whether coaching or working with larger groups, the focus of her work is often leading in complex and messy times; strategic thinking; how leaders can find meaning in their work and enable others to do the same; how to create and sustain change and how emotional competence underpins effective leadership.

Recent projects/clients

Examples of current and recent work include designing and running a workshop for global partners of Big 4 consulting firm; coaching on a senior women’s leadership programme with blue-chip client organisations; designing and running a high potential leadership programme for a Civil Service department and coaching a CEO of Housing Association. Clients organisations have included Jaguar LandRover, Lexmark, NFU Mutual, English Heritage, Virgin Atlantic, the Port of London Authority, Sovereign Housing. She is also on the teaching facility of Roffey Park’s MSc in People and Organisational Development.

Previous work history

Prior to moving into consulting, Helena worked in strategic and operational HR roles in London within Aon, Dennis Publishing and Touche Ross working on the HR and cultural aspects of a merger, developing a fast track graduate programme and setting up the first HR/L&D function in one organisation.
Subsequently, she spent much of her consulting career at Roffey Park, one of her foremost executive education providers in the UK designing and running some of its flagship development programmes. In later years, she was a Director there, leaving in 2009. She then set up and led the Leadership Development practice at Blue Sky Performance Improvement before establishing her own coaching and consulting practice

Quals / Experience

Helena invests a lot in her own personal and professional development whether gaining her Masters degree at Lancaster, working towards gaining PCC accreditation with the International Coaching Federation, training to become a teacher of the Hoffman Process or working as a Trustee of a leading men’s personal development charity – as well as undertaking her own regular practice supervision She is qualifies to use MBTI and FiRO instruments.
